George was the goalkeeper in the winning soccer team in the city

Selvam was born just one day before the end of the financial year. He weighed 7 lbs and had a thick head of hair.

After years of meticulous savings (and thanks to a huge loan from SBI) our first home was built just outside Bangalore. I remember how proud my parents were feeling that day. It was their first own home ever.

Around 1998 end, George went through several interviews for the prestigious position at a huge multinational based in New York. They were very picky and George had little hope of getting the job. Hence the huge surprise when they called up in December and told him he could have the position, provided he could move to the US within a month. It was chaos for a month, but George and family managed to pack whatever belongings they could take, and sell or donate the rest, and finally moved to the US.

Dad returned to India for a visit 5 years after moving to the US. It was an emotional journey for him. We stayed for 40 days, visited many friends and relatives, and traveled to a few locations.

Dad was overjoyed upon becoming a grandparent. I remember him dancing around with joy when my first daughter, Suneeta, was born. He was an amazing grandpa. He made up new stories daily to tell her and she would also eat only from his hands. I wish he had remained around to see her grow up, become a beautiful lady, succeed in her career, and have children of her own...
